Happy New Year etc - two things have cheered me up no end this week - firstly someone sent me a copy of some more stuff by Those Naughty Corinithians after my heartfelt plea in the post below. 3 demos and 4 live tracks including such masterpieces as "I Hate Cats", "Give US A Clue" (about the quiz show..obviously), "Eddie The Eagle", "The Weather Is Shit" & "Greater Manchester Buses Are Rubbish". And yisssss - pretty much every song contains the word "YISSSS!"
Secondly Tom over at the Indie MP3 blog posted up the second two Peel Sessions by the band BOB. I'd not heard these for a while and after downloading them it became pretty clear that they were the same mp3's that I'd made from my old cassette copies and set free via Soulseek a couple of years back. A victory for file sharing I think. Anyway - I told Tom I'd post the missing 1st Peel Session (and in my opinion the best one) to mark my deepest joy.

BOB were one of those bands that were always a pleasure to listen to, everything they did was pure pop and, OK, some of it might sound a bit twee now but both band and listener had smiles on their faces - particularly during the indiepop anthem "Brian Wilson's Bed" featured on their debut flexi and also on this session in a full band version.

i put out the first couple of bob singles, and swag sack, on my disasterous and hilariously run sombrero records, and put them on endlessly at our club - the cool trout basement, at portlands.
they really were a fabulous turn and i'm mystified that they seemed to've been lost in all the c86 nostalgia.

Hi all, and especially you, Ally. I'm one of those guilty of bringing BOB to the world. Thought you might like to know that I managed to wangle CD-quality copies of our first two Peel sessions and the Simon Mayo session (1988) from the BBC a few years back. I'll try and post them sometime. If anyone had a silmilar quality copy of the 3rd session, I'd be most grateful.
I'm still writing and making music, most of it I keep to myself, but some I release one way or another. Most of my musical activity is with a hilarious bunch of nutters down in West Penwith, Cornwall (where I now live), in a 10-piece ska band called Pondlife.
It's good to find people talking about BOB...I don't get the chance much these days.

Just found your site. Some good stuff. I'm really trying to get hold of an MP3 file of Convenience but haven't been doing very well. Do you have one, or do you have any suggestions where I could get one? My tape version was always poor quality and I've now managed to lose it altogether while moving.

I loved BOB and saw them loads, they even slept on my floor in Brum a few times. I always wondered what happened to them, as it was them that inspired me to get into the music business.

I still listen to Bob now and have aquired the old singles on vinyl via ebay. Convenience cost me £15 about 3 years ago!
Saw them supporting Carter USM in Oxford once. What a great night!
Shame they never enjoyed any commercial success.
Saw Bob in Birmingham several times - superb. I've found Richard's Bob site and will be e-mailing him some old Bob gig tickets and a copy of my Bob badge - which I was still wearing in 1993! Top band. Please make Convienence on line somewhere - I've also lost my tape version.

Just got a couple of Bob Tracks off myspace. What singles I have of theirs are in a shed at the bottom of my parents' garden in Tottenham. Any chance of releasing the remaining Peel sessions onto the web (particularly the feb '89 one - that's in the attic on a battered old tape of mine).

Wow! Nice to see Bob fans still around, and nice to know what one of the band is up to nowadays. When I discovered how to do vinyl transfers I put Swag Sack onto CD so I can listen to it everywhere as its one of my fave ever records. Thanks for posting the sesh! Peapod x
Great to find so many folk still speaking so fondly of a band I was so into all those years ago! Found all my old vinyl and a load of signed set-lists. So many great memories of the Shrewsbury Fridge gigs that me and my mate Penfold used to go to!
